Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel! I’m Fariba from WatchKnitting, and today I’m sharing a super easy and elegant lace pattern that’s perfect for beginners and experienced knitters alike.
This pattern is worked over a multiple of 11 stitches plus 8 (including the edge stitches) and follows a 12-row repeat. All the wrong-side rows are purled, making it even easier to memorize!
🧶 Yarn & Needles
I’ve created two swatches to show you how the pattern looks in different gauges:
- Sample 1: Worsted weight yarn with 4.5 mm needles
- Sample 2 (Demonstration): Fine yarn with 2 mm needles
For this tutorial, I’m using the fine yarn and 2 mm needles so you can see how delicate and beautiful the texture becomes at a smaller scale.
🧵 Pattern Overview
This lace pattern consists of two main sections:
- First Half (Rows 2, 4, 6): Features left-leaning decreases with yarn overs placed after each decrease, followed by 5 purl stitches.
- Second Half (Rows 8, 10, 12): Reverses the structure with purl stitches first, then yarn overs and right-leaning decreases. Yarn overs here come before each decrease.
Each 12-row repeat creates a beautifully textured mesh that looks more complex than it actually is!
🧶 Pattern Instructions
Cast on a multiple of 11 + 8 stitches.
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 (WS): Purl
Rows 2, 4, 6: rep[(SSK, YO) ×3, P5], (SSK, YO) ×3
Rows 8, 10, 12: rep[P5, (YO, K2TOG) ×3], P6
🧾 Abbreviations
- p – Purl
- yo – Yarn over
- k2tog – Knit 2 together (right-leaning decrease)
- ssk – Slip, slip, knit (left-leaning decrease)
🧶 Finishing Thoughts
This lace pattern is as easy to knit as it is beautiful. With just purl stitches, simple decreases, and yarn overs, you get a striking texture that’s great for scarves, wraps, or even lightweight garments.
